SUMMARY:Blackboard Learn: Building and Using Master Courses
DESCRIPTION:What is a Master Course?\n\n\nA Master Course is a template co
urse created as a master copy for the purpose of copying content to the B
lackboard course shell for an upcoming semester. The Master Course is cre
ated as a blank shell for the instructors to build their materials and is
a pure original. This means all material is added or created natively wi
thin the Master Course and there is no course copy into the Master Course
.There are several issues that can occur in the process of copying a prev
ious production course from one semester to another. One main issue is fi
lling the course files with multiple copies of previous course file impor
ts/copies that can cause problems with the function of the current semest
er's course. Often the result will be broken links\, duplicate copies of
materials\, complications for students\, and a lot of additional work for
the instructor.Therefore\, it is a best practice to create all course ma
terials in one Master Course. Once built\, the Master Course can then cop
ied to the current semester's Blackboard course for many semesters to com
 e. It allows for a clean copy every semester\, rather than copy of a copy
\, of a copy\, etc.\n\n\nRequirements: If you do not have a Master Course
yet\, please request one here before attending: https://helpdesk.missour
 istate.edu/services-blackboardmastercourse.htm\n\n\nRegistration availabl
 e on My Learning Connection.
