SUMMARY:Public Affairs Conference - All the colors of the rainbow: An unta
ttered flag of freedom in former fringe communities
DESCRIPTION:Panel Session\n\n\nIn a world of increasing fragmentation\, LG
BTQ communities are beginning to thrive. A landmark Supreme Court civil r
ights case repealed the Defense of Marriage Act\, allowing the same terms
and conditions for gay marriages as for those of opposite-sex couples. T
he Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act worked to close the gender pay gap and pro
mote income equality for women. Despite these efforts\, the rights of bot
h groups remain under attack. Same-sex and gender-based prejudices persis
t\, but millennials are increasingly embracing diversity and inclusion. W
hat common threads bind the communities of LGBTQ and working women? What
will the future hold?\n\n\nPublic Affairs Conference held Sept. 25-27\, 2
