SUMMARY:Public Affairs Conference - Gather ‘round the table: Food\, shared
  conversation and community
DESCRIPTION:Panel Session\n\n\nFew moments are as special as breaking brea
d together in celebration of important milestones or just connecting at t
he end of the day. Food is powerful. It brings us together\, shapes our m
emories and empowers our communities. Sharing a meal is an intimate exper
ience\, and those who sit beside us at the table can feel this intimacy:
bonds with loved ones become stronger and strangers no longer feel like s
trangers. As social science has proven\, food has an impact beyond merely
satiating our hunger. But how can we benefit from shared meals in our ea
t-out-of-sacks lives? It requires an investment of time\, energy and rela
tionship. It is a tradition well worth rediscovering.\n\n\nPublic Affairs
  Conference held Sept. 25-27\, 2018.
