SUMMARY:Public Affairs Conference - Zero hunger: It is time to re-think ho
w we grow\, share and consume our food
DESCRIPTION:Panel Session - Zero hunger: It is time to re-think how we gro
w\, share and consume our food\n\n\nFood insecurity\, that is\, being und
ernourished\, occurs in countries where food is scarce and in countries w
here food is abundant. An astounding 815 million people across the globe
are currently categorized as hungry\, and an additional 2 billion people
are expected to be undernourished by 2050. Recent research has also shown
\, for example\, surprising levels of hunger among U.S. college and unive
rsity students. How can agriculture\, forestry and fisheries provide nutr
itious food for all\, generate decent incomes\, and at the same time\, pr
otect the health of the environment? What is the potential for digital te
chnology to profoundly change global food and agricultural systems?
