SUMMARY:Peer Mediation and Conflict Coaching Training
DESCRIPTION:The Center for Dispute Resolution (CDR) is coordinating this f
 ree peer mediation and conflict coaching training for college students. T
 his training will focus on mediation and conflict coaching skills and cov
 ers a variety of topics\, including the following:\n\n\n\nthe causes and 
 dynamics of conflict\nlistening skills\nnegotiation theory\ninterests vs.
  positions\ngetting at the real goals in a conflict\nhow diversity and po
 wer impact conflict\ncoaching and mediation skills and techniques\, and m
 uch more\n\nThe training includes a light breakfast and lunch and is free
  for students who wish to learn more about and/or volunteer with the cent
 er’s peer mediation programs. Students involved in these programs may do 
 some or all of the following: \n\n\n\nassist with providing peer mediatio
 n and conflict coaching for fellow students at Missouri State University\
 nassist with training area high school students in peer mediation and con
 flict coaching\nco-mediate cases with area high school peer mediators \np
 rovide ongoing mentoring of area high school peer mediators\n\nMentoring 
 Volunteer Opportunity on Conflict Response Teams at Area Schools\n\n\nIn 
 addition to offering peer mediation and coaching for Missouri State stude
 nts\, the Center for Dispute Resolution also supports peer mediation and 
 conflict coaching programs in several area high schools. This support inc
 ludes providing training in peer mediation and supervising college studen
 ts who co-mediate cases with high school peer mediators and offer ongoing
  mentoring of high school peer mediators and conflict coaches. The colleg
 e students who volunteer with this program are a part of the CDR’s “Stude
 nt Conflict Response Team” program.\n\n\nPre-registration for this traini
 ng is required.
