DESCRIPTION:Active Minds at Missouri State is having its first meeting of the year this Thursday (9-12-19) at 11:00 AM-12:00 noon in PSU 314A! Comp lete with candy!We are a student-run\, student-focused chapter of the nat ional non-profit Active Minds. We advocate for student mental health\, he lp students learn about mental health\, and empower students to take char ge of their mental health journey and to advocate for themselves and for others.\n\n\nAt this meeting\, we will just spend some time getting to kn ow each other\, introducing our new officers for this year\, and doing so me icebreakers. We'll also talk a bit about mental health\, what it means to us\, and a little bit about what we can and will do as a student orga nization on campus\, including some upcoming events this semester! Our me etings are a respectful\, low-pressure environment where you can talk as little or as much as you want--our primary goal at this meeting is for ev eryone to be comfortable and to have a good time!\n\n\nWe also don't do " lectures." We are a peer-led group and we love to have a round-the-table sort of discussion. Our officers perform their roles outside our meetings and keep our group running behind the scenes\, but while we are meeting we are all equal and equally valuable. We love to hear about the experien ces and thoughts of our new members!We will continue to have weekly meeti ngs at this time\, though we will likely change our meeting location to s omewhere more permanent.
