DESCRIPTION:Missouri Composer Bret Bohman is the 2019 Commissioned Compose
 r for Missouri and will present a brand new piece for violin during the M
 issouri Music Teachers Association Conference\, held this year at MSU. Bo
 hman teaches at Mizzou and is a composer of acoustic and electronic music
 . With a background in dance music production and jazz guitar improvisati
 on\, his concert works meet somewhere in the cross-section of these influ
 ences and the modernist and post-modernist traditions of Western concert 
 music. Themes of therapy\, liminal spaces and art as a vehicle for healin
 g are all central ideas to his recent work.
