SUMMARY:Deep Dive Workshop: Feedback for Improvement
DESCRIPTION:Constructive feedback can be a gift\, but often the feedback w
e give is ineffective. This is particularly true when it comes to giving
feedback on areas where improvement is needed\, whether this feedback com
es in the form of yearly reviews\, ADPs\, grading\, etc. Others may dismi
ss our feedback\, become angry and defensive\, or feel frustrated and uns
ure of how to improve their performance. As a result\, relationships are
damaged and valuable opportunities for growth are lost. \n\n\nGiving effe
ctive feedback is an art\, and this session will help you learn how to re
gularly provide constructive feedback that reinforces desired behaviors i
n others and identifies ways people can make positive changes. \n\n\nIn t
his interactive session\, we will do the following: \n\n\n\nInvestigate t
he characteristics of effective and ineffective feedback. \nLearn how our
traditional approaches to giving feedback are often ineffective and dest
ructive. \nExplore how people respond to feedback and why ineffective fee
dback is often rejected and fails to promote behavior change. \nPractice
giving effective feedback for improvement. \nExamine our current approach
es to giving feedback and make concrete plans for how we can provide othe
rs with effective feedback for improvement. \n\nThis Deep Dive Workshop i
s free for Missouri State faculty and staff\, but seats are limited and p
re-registration is required. \n\n\nFor more information visit the CDR Cam
 pus Workshops website\, email CDR@MissouriState.edu or call (417) 836-883
