SUMMARY:Campus Conflict "Deep Dive" Workshop: Communication and Conflict C
 oaching
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Dr. Charlene Berquist and Ms. Heather Blades\n\n\
nWhen colleagues can’t get along\, the workplace turns into a battlegroun
 d. Tensions rise\, productivity is impacted\, and time and energy are was
ted as conflicts escalate. Supervisors may be called upon to “fix” the pr
oblem\, but often their solutions fail to address the real issues that cr
eated the conflict in the first place. But what if there was a way to coa
ch others to help them manage these situations?\n\n\nThis session will he
lp you learn how to coach others through difficult communication challeng
es and conflict situations. Rather than “fixing” the problem for them\, y
ou can employ communication and conflict coaching strategies to assist th
em in managing their own conflicts\, building their communication skills\
, and achieving their goals.\n\n\nIn this interactive online session we w
ill do the following:\n\n\n\nExamine why “fixing” other people’s conflict
s is rarely effective.\nExplore how a coaching approach differs from the
ways people typically respond to others’ conflict situations.\nLearn the
steps in the communication and conflict coaching process.\nInvestigate th
e benefits communication and conflict coaching offers.\nPractice coaching
skills that you can put to use immediately to help build others’ communi
cation and conflict management skills.\n\nThis Deep Dive Workshop is free
for Missouri State faculty and staff\, but seats are limited and pre-reg
istration is required. This session is approved for Master Advisor credit.
