DESCRIPTION:The Ozarks Studies Institute\, an initiative of the Missouri S
 tate University Libraries\, will host Tom Koob and Curtis Copeland for an
  author talk and signing of their latest book\, “Ozarks Hillbilly: A Stud
 y of the Stereotype and Reality.”\n\n\nThis is a free and open-to-the-pub
 lic event. It will also be livestreamed. \n\n\nIn their book\, Koob and C
 opeland examine the origins\, evolution\, and various uses of the term\, 
 “hillbilly\,” while incorporating personal interviews from Ozarks natives
 . Based on extensive research\, the authors consider multiple perspective
 s about the term\, including how it relates to the culture and lifestyle 
 of the region.\n\n\nKoob has written several books about the history of t
 he Ozarks\, both nonfiction and fiction. Copeland is the geographic infor
 mation systems coordinator for the City of Branson and has been instrumen
 tal in reviving the Society of Ozarkian Hillcrofters\, a historic preserv
 ation organization that originally formed in 1931.
