DESCRIPTION:The Ozarks Studies Institute\, an initiative of the Missouri S
 tate University Libraries\, will host Brooks Blevins for an author talk a
 nd signing of his newly published book\, “A History of the Ozarks\, Volum
 e 3: The Ozarkers.” \n\n\nThis is a free and open to the public event. Ch
 eck out visitor parking information. The author talk will also be livestr
 eamed via Zoom. \n\n\nThe book is the third and final volume in Blevins's
  monumental history of the region. Chronicling the Ozarks from the late 1
 9th to the early 21st century\, the author focuses on the cultural histor
 y of the region in the context of the American story. Blevins tackles myt
 hs and misconceptions about the Ozarkers as they journey into the modern 
 period and embrace progress\, while struggling with barriers presented by
  poverty and geographic isolation.\n\n\nBlevins is Missouri State Univers
 ity’s first Noel Boyd Professor of Ozarks Studies and is a respected scho
 lar with a broad range of interests extending from the history of America
 n higher education to agriculture\, religion\, and society in the U.S. So
 uth. His first volume in the History of the Ozarks series won the Missour
 i History Book Award from the State Historical Society of Missouri\, as w
 ell as the Arkansiana Award from the Arkansas Library Association.
