SUMMARY:2022 Statewide Restorative Practices Conference
DESCRIPTION:This virtual\, day-long conference will feature nationally kno
 wn expert presenters\, offering two plenary sessions and four keynote pre
 sentations\, as well as panels of practitioners working across the state 
 of Missouri and the region.\n\n\nTopic areas will include: justice\, comm
 unity\, education and organizations/workplaces.\n\n\nPlenary sessions:\n\
 n\nOur morning plenary session will focus on “Restorative Practices: Wher
 e We Have Been” with Michael Gilbert\, PhD. He is the former executive di
 rector of the National Association of Community and Restorative Justice. 
 \n\n\nOur afternoon plenary session will continue our theme\, exploring t
 he topic of “Restorative Practices: Where We Are Going” with Sheryl Wilso
 n. She is the executive director of the Kansas Institute for Peace and Co
 nflict Resolution and the president of the National Association of Commun
 ity and Restorative Justice.\n\n\nTopic-area keynotes:\n\n\nEducation - H
 ear from David Yusem\, the restorative justice district coordinator at Oa
 kland Unified School District. In this role\, he supports schools across 
 the district in implementing a culture shift through the use of restorati
 ve justice practices.\n\n\nOrganizations/Workplaces - Learn from Molly Ro
 wan Leach\, the founder of Restorative Justice on the Rise\, a global vir
 tual network and community of practitioners\, academics\, students\, teac
 hers and citizens who are daily amplifying the movement within and beyond
  restorative justice.\n\n\nCommunity - Learn about the work of Pathways t
 o Restorative Communities (P2RC)\, a Boston-based organization applying r
 estorative practices widely in their community and beyond. \n\n\nJustice 
 - Hear about the use of restorative practices in the courts and correctio
 ns from Kelly Dills\, the Quality Assurance and Process Improvement Manag
 er for the Missouri Department of Corrections\n\n\nPractitioner panels - 
 Each keynote will be followed by a panel of practitioners working across 
 the region focused on each topic area.\n\n\nContinuing educaton credits a
 re available for attorneys\, counselors\, social workers and conflict pro
 fessionals.\n\n\nThis event is sponsored by the Missouri Restorative Just
 ice Coalition and the Center for Dispute Resolution at Missouri State Uni
 versity.
