FLCs are teams of 8 to 10 faculty and members will engage in f requent seminars and activities that provide learning\, development\, and community building. Through participation in their community\, faculty w ill build a product or plan in support of enhancing teaching and learning . FLC’s are facilitated by FCTL Faculty Fellows or staff and usually meet 5 times during the semester for a total of 10 contact hours.  Members th at successfully complete goals and objectives set by their community will be eligible for a $500 mini grant to extend their learning and implement their chosen project.\n\n\nThe book\, Becoming Great Universities: Small Steps for Sustained Excellence (Light & Jegla\, 2022) outlines 10 core c hallenges that are confronting universities. This Faculty Learning Commun ity\, led by Dr. Marjorie Shavers and Dr. Nancy Gordon\, will introduce t he book and focus on one of the challenges often experienced by faculty w hich is Facilitating Constructive Interactions among Students from Differ ing Backgrounds and Experiences (pp. 155-177).  The authors of this book advocate that the best universities are those that are focused on enhanci ng personal relationships and putting students front and center.
