SUMMARY:The Figure\, Reclaimed Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Figure\, Reclaimed\, seeks to celebrate and explore the Re
 naissance of the female body and the female figurative painter in visual 
 culture. Through the work of Aneka Ingold and Livia Xandersmith\, this ex
 hibition explores how female figurative painters have combined the tradit
 ional art of figurative painting with contemporary\, stylized approaches 
 to redefine and expand upon what it means to be a figurative painter\, ru
 minate on the female experience\, and how representations of the female b
 ody are consumed.\n\n\nThe Figure\, Reclaimed is a co-curatorial project 
 from Jodi McCoy and Mara Cressey. The exhibit is open July 5-Aug. 4 at th
 e Carolla Arts Exhibition Center. We will have an opening reception in co
 ordination with First Friday Art Walk\, July 7\, 6-8 p.m. and a closing r
 eception Aug. 4\, 6-8 p.m.
