SUMMARY:"Sharing Knowledge\, Showing Technique" Exhibit Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the opening reception for the exhibit Shari
 ng Knowledge\, Showing Technique.      \n\n\nThis educational exhibit is 
 the culmination of the best student work from the Citizenship and Service
 -Learning (CASL) integrated courses ART/MST488 Basic Conservation of Art 
 and Artifacts (Fall 2022) and ART487 Art of Africa (Spring 2023)\, taught
  by Dr. Billie Follensbee. As part of their course projects\, the student
 s researched and conserved objects on loan from the Art &amp; Design art and 
 artifact collections\, from museums and educational institutions in regio
 n\, and from private collectors.\n\n\nThis reception is sponsored by the 
 Office of Citizenship and Service-Learning\, the Museum Studies and Art H
 istory &amp; Visual Culture areas in the Department of Art &amp; Design\, and Spe
 cial Collections and Archives. The exhibit will be on display through Dec
 ember 20th.\n\n\nIn addition\, Earlene Elliot-Lee\, a Museum Studies majo
 r and a student with work on display from both of these CASL classes\, wi
 ll present a live demonstration of painting conservation techniques at th
 e exhibit opening reception. Earlene is completing a painting conservatio
 n internship on a group of paintings by Howard Garrison this semester for
  the Christian County Museum.\n\n\nSpecial Collections and Archives\, a p
 art of the MSU Libraries\, supports Dr. Follensbee and her students by pr
 oviding study space and conservation facilities\, as well as developing t
 he current exhibit.\n\n\nSpecial Collections and Archives is open Monday 
 through Friday\, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Closed on university holidays.)
