SUMMARY:Exhibit Reception: Understanding the Object: Researching and Conse
 rving Art and Artifacts
DESCRIPTION:Meyer Library will host an exhibit opening\, "Understanding th
 e Object: Researching and Conserving Art and Artifacts". It's a display d
 one in conjunction with Dr. Billie Follensbee's advanced art classes.\n\n
 \n\n\n\nThis educational exhibit is the culmination of the best student r
 esearch from the 2015-2016 Citizenship and Service-Learning (CASL) integr
 ated courses ART 488: Basic Conservation of Art and Artifacts of Fall 201
 5 and ART 386: Art of Africa of Spring 2016. Under Dr. Follensbee\, stude
 nts researched the objects as part of their course projects. Objects stud
 ied are on loan from the Ralph Foster Museum\, Drury University\, Christi
 an County Historical Society\, the Mace collection and other private coll
 ections. Access was also provided to the Union Campground Cemetery in Spr
 ingfield so students could work at the site.\n\n\nSpecial Collections is 
 pleased to support Dr. Follensbee and her students by providing study spa
 ce and conservation facilities\, as well as developing the current exhibi
 t showcasing the students' work. The exhibit will continue through Dec. 1
 6\, 2016.
