DESCRIPTION:The Ozarks Celebration Festival Lecture Series continues on Se
 pt. 14 with guest lecturer Ernie Bedell on "Let the Old Man Play: Springf
 ield's African American Music Legends."\n\n\nBedell\, a Springfield nativ
 e\, grew up in the 60s and 70s. At age 14 and under the mentorship of his
  7th grade English teacher\, Donald Sharp\, he began playing acoustic gui
 tar\; at age 15 he switched to bass guitar.\n\n\nBedell has played with s
 everal bands including K.C. Express\, who recorded on the Stax Record lab
 el. He has also performed with blues artists Lil' Joe Blue\, Johnnie Tayl
