It will examine the current state of Digital Humanities in African and African-American History by f ocusing on approaches\, strategies and challenges related to the developm ent of West Africa Historical GIS. The project shows how diverse African communities interacted globally and offers data visualization and new kno wledge about Africa and the African diaspora.  Digital initiatives\, incl uding this one\, can connect digital objects to rebuild the life historie s for tens of thousands of liberated Africans registered throughout the A tlantic World in different periods.
