SUMMARY:Public Affairs Conference - Children at risk of trafficking: The e
lusiveness of life\, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
DESCRIPTION:Most of us take life\, liberty and the pursuit of happiness fo
r granted as inalienable rights. For many\, however\, those rights are el
usive. For some of our most vulnerable citizens\, our children\, those ri
ghts do not exist.  There are children and young adults in the United Sta
tes who are literally being sold: human trafficking exists in all corners
of our nation. The average price for a trafficked person is a mere $90\,
and some are sold for as little as $5. Predominantly\, these innocents a
re sold into prostitution\, but some work in restaurants\, in factories a
nd in other peoples’ homes. How does a community begin to address the hum
an realities of trafficking and the ramifications for our society?  What
are the underlying issues that need to be addressed?  How can we save our
  children?
