SUMMARY:National Child Abuse Prevention Month Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:The Center for Community Engagement (CCE)\, along with Springf
 ield's Child Abuse and Neglect Collaborative\, is hosting a screening of 
 Resilience: The Biology of Stress &amp; The Science of Hope to bring awarenes
 s of this red flag issue to community members and Missouri State students
 . \n\n\n"As the new documentary Resilience reveals\, toxic stress can tri
 gger hormones that wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children\, put
 ting them at a greater risk for disease\, homelessness\, prison\, and ear
 ly death. Resilience also chronicles the dawn of a movement that is deter
 mined to fight back. Trailblazers in pediatrics\, education\, and social 
 welfare are using cutting-edge science and field-tested therapies to prot
 ect children from the insidious effects of toxic stress - and the dark le
 gacy of childhood that no child would choose."\n\n\nFollowing the screeni
 ng\, a panel will discuss and answers questions on the topic of child abu
 se and what Springfield's nonprofits are doing about it. Join us to find 
 out how you can help.\n\n\nThe CCE is also promoting a donation drive for
  the month of April. Donated items can be brought to the CCE in PSU 131.
