SUMMARY:Public Affairs Conference - Sustainability in the extended global
 supply chain
DESCRIPTION:Plenary Speaker: Ron Ireland\n\n\nIn today's world of global\,
extended supply chains\, interactions between multiple trading partners
is common and\, many times\, necessary. However\, this has resulted in in
efficiencies that have caused enormous amounts of waste: wastes\, such as
additional costs in logistics\, manufacturing production and excess inve
ntory. All of these costs associated with supply chain failures have resu
lted in excessive pollution in the air and water\, and poor manufacturing
practices is resulting in increased global warming. What is now known as
the supply chain bullwhip will be a focus on this presentation and how m
any leading businesses in all industries are now resolving these issues u
sing techniques\, such as integrated business planning (IBP) and collabor
ative supply chain planning. The goal is to smooth the supply chain bullw
hip\, aligning the extended supply chain with consumer demand and optimiz
ing the extended supply chain to significantly improve profitability resu
lting in many sustainability benefits.\n\n\nThis plenary address will als
 o be shown live at: publicaffairs.missouristate.edu/ireland \n\n\nPublic
