SUMMARY:Public Affairs Conference - Urban revitalization: Creating sustain
 able change
DESCRIPTION:Plenary Speaker:  Majora Carter\n\n\nThe nonprofit industrial
complex repeatedly administers the same cocktail of educational\, health
and job training supports in low-status communities across the U.S.\, yet
these neighborhoods remain economically stagnant. America's increasing r
e-urbanization trend eventually consumes many such areas\, spurring displ
acement and resentment toward the very outside investment that has been d
emanded for decades. Part of the reason is Brain Drain. Nearly every succ
essful person from these communities leaves\, taking their daily example
of success\, their local consumer spending and their longer term reinvest
ment capital with them. How do we create a sustainable lifestyle infrastr
ucture to keep talent in the places where it can produce the most benefit
