SUMMARY:Computer Science Seminar - IoT and Data Analytics for City Utiliti
 es
DESCRIPTION:This presentation will focus on the business aspects of implem
enting Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI – an IoT technology) and usi
ng data analytics to improve op efficiency.\n\n\nUtilities\, for years\,
have inherently been a place of little or slow change.\n\n\nWe have done
metering in the same way for 50+ years\, all a manual process.\n\n\nOver
the last 30+ years\, we have built information systems that are great at
collecting data\, but we do not do much with that data.\n\n\nUtility comp
anies\, including City Utilities\, are finally embracing technology in ne
w ways\, and at the forefront are IoT and data analytics.\n\n\nSpeaker: C
hris Hill\, director\, GIS and AMI\, City Utilities
