ent The Civil War in the Trans-Mississippi West: Archaeology of the Battl
es of Wilson’s Creek\, Pea Ridge and Other Stories.\n\n\nThe American Civ
il War was truly brother against brother\, especially in the state of Mis
souri. There\, pro-southern Missouri Militia fought Union regulars and vo
lunteers. The 1861 Battle of Wilson’s Creek was a southern victory. The s
pring 1862 Battle of Pea Ridge was a decisive Union victory and resulted
in Missouri staying in the Union camp. Subsequently\, 1\,500 other battle
