DESCRIPTION:Dr. Samuel Goldman will deliver a public lecture based on his 
 new book\, God's Country: Christian Zionism in America (Penn Press\, 2018
 ). \n\n\nDr. Goldman is Assistant Professor of Political Science at Georg
 e Washington University\, where he leads the Politics and Values Program 
 and is Executive Director of the Loeb Institute for Religious Freedom. Go
 ldman received his Ph.D. from Harvard University. Prior to his appointmen
 t at George Washington\, he was a Tikvah Postdoctoral Fellow in Religion\
 , Ethics and Politics at Princeton University.\n\n\nDr. Goldman's researc
 h focuses on the theological origins of political ideas\, and he has publ
 ished on such figures as Leo Strauss\, Spinoza and Tocqueville.\n\n\nIn a
 ddition to his academic work\, Goldman is the literary editor for Modern 
 Age and a contributing editor at The American Conservative. His writing h
 as also appeared in National Review\, New York Magazine\, First Things\, 
 The New Criterion and other publications.\n\n\nThis event is sponsored by
